2011 Boys All-American Selections!

The Washington State Boy's Lacrosse Association announced this year's boys U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans.  This year the number of selections was expanded from the usual three to five.  The selections are comprised of three midfielders and two defensemen.  They are definitely interesting and perhaps controverstial this year and will have a lot of people talking.  Are there any big snubs?

Jake Bernstein- Senior, Midfield from Lake Washington

Jake helped lead the Kangs to a playoff berth in their first year in DI as captain.  They were slotted into the Northeast no. 5 spot in the DI playoffs, facing King's Way in the first round.  This season he tallied a total of 40 goals, 13 assists, and 44 ground balls.  Bernstein is Lake Washington first All-American in program history.

Sam Leggett- Jr. Defense from Bellevue

Sam is a smart and crafty defenseman.  He is the heart of the Wolverines defensive unit and team captain as a junior.  This season he tallied a total of four goals, two assists and 64 ground balls as a long pole.  Bellevue locked up the Northeast no. 3 seed and will face Lake Tapps in the first round of playoffs.  Sam is Bellevue's 7th All-American in program history.

Doug Mahony- Sr. Midfield from Mercer Island

Doug joins his older brothers Kevin ('06) and Greg ('07) and sister Caroline (2x '08 and '09) as All-Americans from the Mercer Island lacrosse program.  He is part of the state's strongest midfield line and this season he amassed 43 goals, 11 assists, and 49 ground balls.  A strong lefty dodger and scorer, the senior captain hopes to bring Mercer Island its first state title in five years.  Doug is Mercer Island's 11th All-American in program history and will be attending Bentley University next fall.

Foster Wisman- Sr. Midfield from Northshore

Foster is the backbone and heart of his entire team.  This season he totaled 44 goals, 11 assists and 50 ground balls.  You can see Foster acting as player and sideline coach for his squad.  Although Northshore was eliminated from the playoffs this season, Foster's accomplishments earned him a spot alongside his brother Taylor, an All-American from last season at DIII's Rochester Institute of Technology next fall.  Foster is Northshores's second All-American in program history.

Kevin Park- Sr. Defense from Stadium

Kevin is a tough, aggressive defender who accounted for two goals, two assists and an impressive 145 ground balls.  Needless to say he is a ground ball vacuum. Although his team did not make the playoffs he is Stadium's first All-American in program history.
