High School Results and Round-Up

Snohomish Downs Everett 17-2 in season opener

LAKE STEVENS- Snohomish beat an undermanned Everett squad limited to 15 playes by eligibilty issues 17-2 on Tuesday night at Lake Stevens High School.  Snohomish's offensive firepower was lead by Freshman Jarrett Toy who scored 7 goals and added 3 assists.  Junior Attack/Midfield Mike Gianola scrored 5 goals and added one assist seeing his first career action at midfield.  Sophomore Attack Devin Remlinger rounded out the scoring with 3 goals and an assist.  Defensively Snohomish's entire team played a solid game defensively only allowing 6 shots the entire game.  Freshman LSM Davyd Powell played well snagging a game high 7 ground balls in his first Varsity game.  The Panthers were led between the pipes by Junior Goalie Tucker Cooper and Senior Colin Perley, who returns to the cage after a two year layoff from lacrosse. Perley made 2 great saves on 4 shots. Snohomish's next game is against conference rival Stanwood at Glacier Peak High School on Thursday at 7:30 PM.

Issaquah's Kevin Powers Dominates Mukilteo With 10 Goals

ISSAQUAH- The skies opened and the rain came down hard delivering a typical Northwest evening to open the 2011 Division I league play between Issaquah and Mukilteo.
The rain let up just as the game began and from the opening face-off, Issaquah’s seniors paved the way. The Eagles dominated the 1st quarter, keeping the pressure on the Mukilteo defense and raced to a 6-0 led and the end of the 1st led by four goals from Kevin Powers and two goals from Jake Fritz.  The second quarter fared no better for Mukilteo, as Kole Lindor and Kevin Powers with ten ground balls each for the game kept offensive pressure on and increased their lead to 12-0 at the half. Issaquah increased their lead with the game ending with a final score of 19 – 1.  Issaquah was led by Kevin Powers with 10 goals followed by 4 goals each from Jake Fritz and Ashton Ritchie. Mukilteo’s lone goal was scored by Jordan Gagnon late in the 3rd quarter.  Despite the lopsided score, both goalies for Mukilteo- Paul Linari and Nick Gregory showed good effort in the goal.

 

Other Division I

Lake Washington drops Lynnwood in boys lacrosse

BRIER –  Jake Bernstein scored 5 goals and delivered 2 assists as Lake Washington downed Lynnwood 13 – 6 in boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Tuesday at Brier Terrace Middle School.   Cody Bernstein scored 4 goals and collected 5 ground balls as the Kangs evened their season record to 1 – 1.  The game marked the first Division I game for Lynnwood, which advanced to the senior division after winning the Division II state championship in 2010.

Northshore downs Overlake in boys lacrosse

BOTHELL –  Drew Tosaya, Foster Wisman and Alex Bus each scored 3 goals as Northshore downed Overlake 13 – 9 in boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Tuesday at Bothell High School.  Kyle Barrett contributed 5 points in the first win of the season for Northshore. Barrett Jenness and Eric Risa each netted 3 goals and Graham Husick tallied 13 saves for the Owls in the loss.

Curtis rolls to 19 – 3 boys lacrosse win over Lakeside

TACOMA -- Carson Stewart scored 3 goals and delivered 4 assists as Curtis rolled to a 19 – 3 boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Lakeside, Tuesday at Curtis High School in Tacoma.  Following a game opening goal by Lakeside’s Keaton Santi, Curtis scored 7 unanswered points to open a 14 – 2 half time lead.  Colby Carr, Dillon Caanagh and Brandon Dean each scored 3 in the first Curtis’ opening win.  Santi scored 2 goals and Ben Goldstein netted one for the Lions in the loss.

Boys Division II

PA downs Gig Harbor 9-3 in boys lacrosse

PORT ANGELES – Brendan Carpenter, Kavin Catterson, Jacob Dostie and Joey Hall each scored 2 goals to lift Port Angeles to a 9 – 3 boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Gig Harbor, Tuesday at Storm King Soccer Fields in Port Angeles. Julian Walls had 18 saves in goal for Port Angeles in the win.  Ricky Chenoweth, Alex Lower and Blake Uddenberg tallied Gig Harbor’s 3 goals in the loss.

Ballard downs Franklin in boys lacrosse opener

BALLARD – Brian Gemme scored 3 goals to lead Ballard to an 11 – 2 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Franklin, Tuesday in its home opener at Ballard High School.  Ballard jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead at the half before cruising to the win.  Tawn Saephan, Anthony Iarin each scored for Franklin in the loss.

Downey nets OT winner as Redmond downs Highline in boys lacrosse

REDMOND – Casey Downey buried a Liam Watkins pass in the back of the net with 3:15 remaining in overtime to lift Redmond to a 5 – 4 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Highline, Tuesday at Redmond High School.  The OT winner gave Downey a hat trick on the night.  Watkins scored 2 goals and Niko Sheweytallied 12 saves in goal in the win.

Woodinville downs Providence to open boys lacrosse season

LYNNWOOD –   Keaton House scored 4 goals to lead Woodinville past Providence 11 – 4 in boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Tuesday at Lynnwood high school.  Colter Clinch added 2 goals and 3 assists and Dalton Combs had 14 saves in goal for Woodinville in the win.
