"Shoot for the Top" Grant Recipient: Seattle Supersonics
SoundLacrosse is proud to announce Supersonic Lacrosse Club as the 2012 recipient of its ’Shoot for the Top’ grant. This annual award is given to a Seattle-area lacrosse charity from the proceeds generated by SoundLacrosse photographers. For the first time, Breakaway Lacrosse will partner to provide Supersonic Lacrosse with equipment at cost using the funds raised by SoundLacrosse.
“This really is a great way for three organizations to come together and help grow the game in Seattle,” said SoundLacrosse founder Michael Jardine, “It will help Supersonic Lacrosse continue to give their kids a positive, constructive and healthy experience. And by working with Breakaway Sports, we can make the dollars work as hard as possible.”
Founded in 2011, Supersonic Lacrosse is a non-profit organization serving Southwest Seattle with an after-school delinquency prevention program, offering lacrosse and tutoring, “Our program is designed for at-risk middle school boys,” explains Director Scott Pattison, “we offer free lacrosse and academic tutoring to our students and rely on donations to keep our services going. We are very excited to receive this year’s award from Sound Lacrosse and Breakaway Sports.”
For the past five years, SoundLacrosse has been photographing Washington State lacrosse and selling photos and prints through its website, www.soundlacrosse.com. A consortium of volunteer photographers, both professional and amateur, SoundLacrosse has covered nearly 500 games and posted over 35,000 photographs. The proceeds from the sales of these photos are donated annually to a lacrosse-related charity in the Seattle area.
